According to a scan of a letter in the booklet from The Complete 50's Masters Steve Sholes sent on 24 aug. 1956 a demo record to Elvis with this song. However it was not recorded by Elvis.


I found two recordings:
Recorded 05-02-56 by Warren Smith (Sun 239) and a clip on Youtube with Johnny Cash from 1955.

Besides Warren Smith's Sun original, there are at least three more versions from 1956.

Texan rockabilly Johnny Carroll did a decent version for Decca, although a bit over the top compared to the perfectly controlled cool of Smith's debut disc.

A really cringeworthy version by Dave Burton saw the light on the RCA Victor label.

Buddy Merrill recorded another jump-on-the-bandwagon cover for the Coral label.

All three recordings are available on YT.

Please note that Johnny Cash's recording, a demo really, was not released in the 50s.

Thanks for your additions Mr. Moon. I did this topic on two other forums at the time but I never updated the topics.
It takes too much time and it is out of my interest.

Yes, there is so much information out there and it's nearly impossible to keep up with everything. That's what makes these threads interesting, because every member can add a little bit to the whole picture.
