Movies unedited (that at one time existed)

Postby Sonny » Fri Mar 22, 2019 11:39 pm

At time when renting them I did not really know they would be so special. I am talking about the mid eighties. Back then you had both VHS and Betamax, but also VCC systems. And one could rent those tapes obviously. The place I found had all the Elvis movies, some in bad quality, some very good.

I saw some of the movies back then, but this store had Charro and Speedway, never saw those, so I rented those.

The Charro version had all the later cut footage in it, making it much rawer and exciting. It had the scene in the bar with the girls being naked, the complete bath tub scene and the branding of Elvis in a more spectacular close up way.

Speedway had the complete Five Sleepy Heads song when the kids are in bed.

Just wanted to share this.

I'm surprised these things have never turned up apart from the complete bath scene in Charro.

I don't think those scenes will ever turn up in a legal way (remake of movie) for instance. We know they exist.

The bath scene in Charro turned up legally.

Come to think of it, movie songs that were edited in releases, like for instance Sound Advice re-surfaced. That one is back in the European dvd release.

Complete movie re-edits or director cuts, I don't see that happening with an Elvis movie.

Any thoughts are welcome of course.

Does Joesph Tunzi's book show the scenes? I remember posting the bath scene here.

You’re right, director’s cuts are destroyed due to Colonel Parker’s orders. Some tracks cut from a movie were shown in the movie trailer like Lonely man (solo version) from Wild in the country.

Yes, but like I said, sometimes they came back in some release, somewhere.Nothing is impossible.

Perhaps a nice FTD dvd project, deleted songs on video from movies.

That would be nice, but it'll never happen.

I have previously had on 80s vhs, but no longer have, all of the films that were renamed in Britain under the british titles, ie, the movies had these titles on the screen... Harem Holiday, California Holiday and Love in Las Vegas. I regret getting rid of them

Sorry if this is a silly or obvious question.

Were these videos available for fans to buy? Could some of Elvis' fans have bought these treasures and be able to share?
