The earliest Elvis footage

Postby lodeus » Mon Aug 12, 2024 4:57 am

Can anyone help me out that knows enough to know if I got all the footage? I've been having some fun editing clips together.

Is this pretty complete? I imagine I'm missing some performance footage at the end.

It's hard to tell when we are dealing with amateur / newsreel footage that's been used a zillion times in the last half century. Even the excellent MRS DVD release of the Tupelo concerts was reported to have missed a few clips (although I couldn't tell for sure).

The Breckenridge footage, originally thought to have been shot in Lubbock, was a mind-blower when first used on the "Arena" Buddy Holly documentary first aired in 1985. It was filmed by Lubbock music personality Ben Hall, who was also featured in the program. Top class stuff.

Finding and watching this stuff is still quite the treat for a fan in the 2020's. It was wild getting into Elvis a few years ago to discover so little footage of him in the 50s existed. Outside of the TV stuff of course.

The first video in this thread has disappeared. It looks like you have updated it with the clip we told you about, but you forgot to post the link.

Colin, please call the big guys.

The YouTube clip has been removed by the uploader.

Not much can be done about that.

I don't think anyone has used the newest audio source for this yet, so I did.
