The Tankcaster No. 7 (1961)

Postby Bob » Sat Mar 21, 2015 6:06 pm

I just scanned and upladed a complete edition of Gary Pepper´s famous Tankcaster.

Gary this time published a Blue Hawaii themed issue since that movie had just been released.

And I also took advantage of the situation to add some images of the collectible Hawaiian leis (that Colonel Parker sent Gary so he could hand them out to the Tankers). It is probably because of Gary that these leis are still around nowadays.

The complete newsletter can be found here:
http://www.elvisechoesofthepast.com/the ... no-7-1961/

Credits and thanks for the Tankcaster goes to Ger Rijff who presented me with a bunch of these cool fanclub magazines!

That was a lovely magazine and there are some rare photos there; although quite small. Interesting articles too from Gary Pepper.

Down the years getting to know Gary Pepper, how close he was with EP and his family and how great his articles were down the years, this special bond worked a treat and Mr Pepper was a special guy.

Thanks Bob,this will bring his work to new fans who may not have come across him,and i feel HE is a big part in the life of Mr E.A. Presley.
Keep the FAITH MIKE :!: :!:

His news was also reported in the Elvis monthly magazine in the sixties.

Many thanks for your replies guys!

In the near future, 3 or 4 more complete Tankcaster newsletters will find their way to Echoes, courtesy of Ger Rijff.

Currently also Issue nr. 8 is available:
http://www.elvisechoesofthepast.com/the ... no-8-1962/

Plus, thanks to Jans Rabbers, the very interesting Tankers Annual 1963 can be found here:
http://www.elvisechoesofthepast.com/the ... nual-1963/

And what also might be interesting for some fans is a very cool series of articles coming up that focus on the earliest British Fan Club newsletters from 1957 (and upwards) from before the time the Club was handed over to Albert Hand in January 1962, with complete scans of all of these rare newsletters.
Below we have the frontpage of the very first newsletter, courtesy of Harry Carrigan, from August 1957.

That's cool stuff and I'm glad to see that old fogie Ger is still active. Give him my best. I've still got all the scans I did for him when we were pals.
