No harm in playing records alone with a 14-year-old girl...

...and take something for that cough...

Are you talking about Priscilla, or was there another 14 year old?

At least Elvis didn't marry his cousin when she was 13.

If you are talking about Jerry Lee Lewis, it was not illegal or unusual in southern USA states back in 1957 to marry a 13 year old girl.

To clear things, Myra was the daughter of J. W. Brown, who was Jerry's first cousin (J. W.'s father was married to a sister of Jerry's father). So Jerry and Myra were not first cousins.

What wasn't right was the fact that by the time Jerry and Myra got married he still was legally married to his second wife.

Or was he married to no.1 in the first place? Isn't there some confusion over his first two wives? Has there ever been interviews from them?

Well done, Ben & TonyS !

To be fair, it is the chest to waist and hip to waist measurement there was not enough room, wherever Elvis placed his large hand..... well, she was smiling!

You are right, I was speaking frrom memory.

It looks like he married the second wife while still being legally married to the first one. But he was already divorced from the second when he married Myra.

So, I don't know what was wrong in this sense, really.

Just a cheap tabloid thing.

They are going overboard, in this day and age, which is wrong.

Yes.

Things don't work out as planned !

Remember the Soham schoolgirls murdered by paedophile Ian Huntley ?

He was their school caretaker.

The public demanded tighter checks on those employed working with children.

The result ?

A caring parent driving their child to school had to have a police check if they included a child from another family !

Daft, I call it.

This is awful, Colin, I don't recall it being reported at the time in Australia, due to the horrific nature, I am sure it was. Some things I have to block out. Those poor little girls.

It is outrageous that his girlfriend was released two years later.

Here, the caretakers have to be given direct permission to take little children home; older children, as far as I know, it is still the case that anyone can take them home from school.

The security checks in the UK, by what you say, have gone too far.

There was self filled out paperwork introduced in Australia, around 2007 to 2008, if working with children in any capacity, which produced a Blue card.
