No, never. This came after, I'm supposing?

Yes, I saw a date of 1956, but after Elvis' version. Ferlin Husky used to take off other artists.

Hadn't heard it no, John.

Interestingly though Ferlin Husky's 1957 hit record 'Gone' reportedly brought Millie Kirkham's beautiful high voice singing to Elvis' notice.

Husky first recorded "Don't Be Mad" in November 1956 as one of his comedy records released as by Simon Crum. It was a studio recording that wasn't released until 1963 as a single together with another item from the same session that was also held back.

I haven't heard those recordings, but this one, coming from a fake live album also released in 1963, could well be that very same 1956 studio item.

Apart from using the Simon Crum alter ego, he also had records released as by Terry Preston.

Here's another small Husky connection with Elvis. This photo shows him (third from right) with Hank Williams' ex-wife, Audrey (promoted as a "rockabilly" artist, god knows why), and Bob Neal (second from right). Any information on the identity of the other gentlemen ?

That's from a Nashville DJ convention in 1957, Webb Pierce is in there.

There's a whole series of photos here, including Marty Robbins in the group.

Audrey had several different outfits.
