"Stau"means Traffic jam in German.
Haha, Colin, wrong side of the road....if I would drive in England I would often forget that and drive a lot of people over.
Not that some of them would deserve it.
@john, honestly.....6 hour drive I did 5 years ago every two weeks....friday 6 hours ...sunday another 6 hours back.
It's just so exhausting....maybe because I am older or maybe because of the traffic jam.
And no, it wasn't the first thing I did here.
More about the 8th thing or so.
Or do I have to report to the moderator on Phoenix who is on duty about my whereabouts?

I can believe it. I love driving, but it's not as pleasurable anymore. and long journeys can take it out of you.

I love driving too, but under these circumstances it is stress.
My right leg hurts after beeing 6 hours on the gas or brakes (and I drive an automatic).
So I guess with 44 I tolerate it less than I did with 41...or I am just not used to it anymore.
And I am not cool enough to tolerate traffic jam, some people are way more cool about that I am.

What do you mean with "it's not pleasurable anymore"? Don't like driving at all anymore, or just long drives?

I look at our roundabouts, as we drive on the left hand side of the road, which are fine, of course, we are used to them, and wonder how I would go with a roundabout going around the wrong way, or crossing traffic, it is scary, lol

I wonder how others from the left hand side go on the right hand side......... lol lol

As long as we do not drive at peak hour traffic times in Queensland, there is not usually, still, a lot of traffic on our freeways when travelling, unless driving through our major city (and that is only necessary if visiting there).

Sydney is another matter, not worth it, one never drives through Sydney, ever.

Melbourne, I just love Melbourne. <3 <3 <3 It is so old fashioned there, she has mood.

Colin, if it is too intrusive, please do not answer, why do you not drive?

Long drives with motorway madness, road rage, stop start....

I always have good music to listen to, or I download podcasts, and these days I rarely have to be anywhere by any particular time, so it's not too bad. Over the years i have done hundreds of thousands of miles, driving all over the UK.

Can't wait for my new car so I also can listen to some music while driving.
Funny, the hotel I booked and staying right now......the parking lot..really, only Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Porsche.....my old car surely makes an impression.
And not a good one....laugh.

That is funny.

When I visited Sydney one time with my first ever car, I had to drive around a double parked limo at the entrance to a car park, due to the limo, I began to take notice of the other cars in the carpark, and I laughingly observed with all the cars parked inside, my beloved first ever car (that I, as a teenager, worked hard to buy with my first ever saved up "large amount" of money) was the fifth worse car in that entire car park (I love to laugh and observe, it amuses me).

Loved that the limo driver in that expensive car did not need to pay for parking, lol, along with other limos, too, funny.

I've driven all across Europe. It's not a problem, you get used to it straight away. The worst place though was Milan, they seem to drive on both sides of the road. Venice was a bit tricky...

LOL, emotional Italians, lol

Why was Venice tricky, as you were in a boat?

I thought that walking across the crossing was hilarious in Argentina, as I think that they speed up to run over anyone walking across a crossing, lol lol lol (like driving through an orange light before it turns red).

Javi, why do you have crossings? They are dangerous, lol
