Its generally being accepted in Beatles circles as being legit.
Certainly sounds like a young Lennon to me 'putting on the style'
The remaining members of the Quarrymen also say it's genuine.
No further need to question it IMO.

It actually sounds like Lonnie Donegan...but then Lonnie was a big influence and John did sing like him.
