Mine was the BOBSTER "The Bootleg Series, Vol 1-3: Rare & Unreleased 1961-1991" , which I got it in 1994.
To this day, this must rate as amongst the top 5 essential boxed sets you just had to have if you are a generic fan on Rock and Folk music.

WOWW...what a looong time ago, one was TONY BENNETT 50 years 4 CD long Box-Set, CHUCK BERRY Chess Box Set, FRANK SINATRA Reprise 4 CD Long Box...man and there was/is this Atlantic RAY CHARLES Set....and whole lot are coming in, man what a whole lotta fine of music (DEAN, JERRY LEE, JOHNNY CASH, RICK NELSON, SINATRA, SAMMY DAVIS, BOBBY DARIN, CARL PERKINS, CHARLIE RICH...and, and, and) Matt

I don't recall which was the first non-Elvis CD set I ever got, but I remember very well which was the very first non-Elvis LP set that came my way.
I got it in 1981, maybe 1982, as a gift from my parents.
I will never be able to repay the many hours of pleasure this artifact gave me, and the many doors it opened in my young brain.
Simply put, it blew my mind :
