I always felt a little sad for Cindy Lauper.

Her & Madonna both initially came to the attention of the public in 1984.

Both talented female singers from the US & with a similar style.

One went on to become a global superstar & the other had to settle for a fairly low-key career with just the occasional hit record to keep things ticking over.

Do you think that is because Madonna made more "noise" so to speak? Her sex book, "someone" leaked details of her sex life, she being a catholic and then acting risque (all planned for her career?); Madonna was a loud squeaky wheel so received more attention?
