Did you have a nice day?

It was great !

My son & I were made very welcome.

This was the 6th annual get-together of the cousins, but my first time attending.

We are scattered far & wide these days, from Brighton to Ireland via Ramsgate & Gravesend !

I don't know if this is something Windows 10 has upgraded me to, but when I open my photo files now, using the Large Icons view,
I get little ticks, crosses or clocks appearing on the thumbnails:

Does anyone know what they mean ?

Great piccie - there is a family resemblance with some of your cousins.

Great memories, too.

Thanks, Colin.

Alrighty, I am game, lol.

Going from the left, the fellow third in with the black and white striped shirt.

The tall fellow behind with the red checkered shirt and grey jumper.

The lady on your right.

The fellow beside you with the walking stick and the matching shirt, although his shirt is darker and his head is side on, lol :D

Hmmmmmmmm LOL LOL

Then, the fellow beside your son could be his relative, lol LOL LOL

The lady with the pink top, too.

What is my score? lol ;)

:D

Well, not had anything for this thread for a while, so here's a catch-up:

I'll pare this back to the nitty gritty.

Extra Energy dual fuels: gas & electric between October 2014 & April 2015 [6-months], paying a monthly direct debit of £95.

In December, 2015, they took £220.18 for the 'Final Dual Fuel Bill' [which surprised me as I thought the direct debit was covering my usage].

So far, so good.

But, in December, 2017, they informed me that they were taking £633.48 because the 2014/15 bill was incorrect !

This direct debit failed because I no longer had one set up with my bank for Extra Energy.

I got a letter from a debt-collection company, demanding immediate action, saying that non-payment would affect my credit rating.

I protested to Extra Energy that they were breaking the energy industry code of practice, which allows 'back-billing' only for 12 months.

They informed me that they weren't party to that code !

I made my case to the Energy Ombudsman who agreed with me [& Ofgem] that the principles of the code should apply,
even if the supplier hasn't signed up to it.

He's told them to credit my account, reducing the outstanding sum to zero !

A lesson for our times: protest !

I wonder how many customers would have simply paid up to avoid all the hassle ?

Not me, lol.

Consumer legislation cannot be changed, although it is tried, in my experience, by 99% of businesses these days.

Good on you, Colin. Ombudsmen are good! lol

The Ombudsman & his team found out that ExtraEnergy had carried on charging me for electricity for months after I'd left them !

Hence the huge back-dated bill !

No idea where they got the meter readings from !

Maybe they kept sending their meter reader round ?

Someone knocks the door & announces they've come to read the meter, I just assume they are from my current supplier !
