august / september 1966: correspondence with Elvis Presley Music (Freddie Bienstock) about delivering songs; a total of 55 demo acetates were selected by Freddie Bienstock and 43 demo’s were rejected after pre-selection on 12 september 1966.

Rejected:
Surf city (Brian Wilson-Jan Berry)
I found a girl (Phil Sloan-Steve Barri)
The little old lady (from Pasadena) (Don Atfield-Roger Christian)
Drag city (Christian-Berry-Wilson)

We call on Him (Karger – Weisman - Wayne)
Later on recorded in a non-movie recording session on 11 september 1967 .

Suppose (Dee-Goehring)
Later on recorded on 20 june 1967 for the movie Speedway;

Thanks John for the addition with clips from deleted songs; I'm glad Hal Wallis dropped the idea of "surf-songs" in the movie although this genre was very popular in the mid-sixties.

To finish the time line: 31 january 1967 - release of dialogue script (131 pages); no songs or scenes are included.

Part of a personal letter written on a Grocery List sheet from Pat Harrington.
Hi,
I'm leaving town tonight for 6 days and when I get back I start rehearsals for a Mafia film - produced by Koreans! I swear to it.
I'll have to forego the questions for now. Forgive me and thanks for the great letter.
Elvis was at the top of his game. We had a ball - laughed a lot.
I loved him.
