I’ve you heard you say this before, but what is it about the song you don’t like?

It just seems like a drag that never gets going and never leads to anywhere. There's no hook or anything to drag me in to it.

Not even the original?

No, not the original version, nor any by Elvis, or any that come after his versions either.

He sings the original perfectly !

Yes, he does. It's not as good as Ketty Lester's version, but it's close.

Well, yes, Ketty set that bar pretty high, didn't she ?

And Elvis uses her arrangement without attempting anything different with it.

Both great versions, though.

This version by Beverley Skeete who sang with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings is as great as, if not better than Ketty's. It has George Harrison, on slide guitar. This has yearning and pain in it. Ben, if you don't like this, you're brain dead.

I wasn't familiar with her version, thanks John !

Not as tightly controlled as the more well-known versions, but makes up for that with the soulful emotion she brings to it.

I enjoyed that !

Elvis' version may have been based on Ketty Lester's, but the latter wasn't the original :

Yeah, Ketty's was the best one though, although Beverley Skeete really is up there with her. I had the Nat Cole version way before Elvis' version and as a kid I saw the film which featured the Victor Young version.

Alison Moyet did a fair version, which I bought as a single.

We don't know if Ben likes any of these other versions.

The Rhythm Kings version is miles better than any other version I've heard, but it still doesn't make it all that great. The whole song grates on me more than near any song I've ever heard. I've no idea why, but I'm sure most have songs that they don't like as a whole?

Give me Queenie or Petunia over this.

I can't stand Lily The Pink, not since she stood me up.
