There are going to be screenings of the ELVIS 68 TV SPECIAL in cinemas, apparently this August. The news is up on Rolling Stone Website but....
'It opened with footage of him dressed in a slick, black leather jumpsuit–curling his lip...'

How hard is it to describe the opening of the special correctly?

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/news ... rs-w520962

I wonder if it will be screened in its original 4:3 format ? ;)

Good on you Tony.
well i got mixed feelings about this as on the one level i loved the idea and pro activeness of american fan david rogers, think thats his name, online campaign collecting a petition to get the NBC network to repeat the SINGER PRESENTS ELVIS at 9pm on December 2 2018 precisely 50 years after the fact.

By the way, david's Petition is close to 7000 signatures now. NBC in america cannot ignore this.

the part that has me concerned is the fact that it's on video tape which is not even close the HD,
and when blown up to the size of a movie screen, it will be very blurry.

There is now software technology to convert old video footage into 1080 HD. So it can be done. Below is a widescreen transfer.

Disgusting. That Rolling Stone piece.
Even at his peak and looking like he never did before or after they have to make it the usual pathetic description of elvis.
Why not throwing in that in the opening scene he did held a fried peanut butter sandwich in his hand and throwed some "thank you, thank you very much" after every song...so much that the original cut went overtime.

No thanks.
1. It looks ropey on my 1080 screen
2. The picture format is incorrect and Elvis is 'All Squished Up'.
Thanks anyway.

Well, that software doesn't work, because that looks worse than standard.

It would seem that this year would be ideal for Sony to re-release the audio version of the original album with bonus tracks. Just about a "win - win" situation for Sony Besides the NBC anniversary special. the original TV show will be shown in theaters in August . It was shown in theaters back in 2004 and sold out at my local theater . As someone mentioned , maybe they could remix some of the mono tracks like Baby What You Want Me To Do by computer to stereo. And it would be an ideal time to re-release the show on DVD AND Blu-ray .
