So glad a live recording as survived of this magnificent concert - imo, it's probably his best ever live concert. The set list is amazing and so is his performance.
Such a shame he omitted the wonderful Doin' The Best I Can from the set list.
At least we got a live rocking I Need Your Love Tonight and probably the only time we will ever hear it live.
The only thing that puzzles me to this day, considering the massive superstar he was at the time, why the hell wasn't this event filmed professionally or taped???
Thank God someone in the audience had the brains to tape this!!

I read in some book that this show would have essentially been his first every TV special, and they were negotiating and it fell thru, because
NBC wouldn't finance the special.

I think it was Jerry Hopkins book, Elvis in Hawaii.
I no longer own it. or I would scan the page.

As 'Surrender' steps into the Number 1 spot on the charts, it might be interesting to note that Elvis Presley, to date, has sold in excess of 876,000,000 worth of RCA Victor recordings. Need more be said? On March 25th, the Pres will do a benefit in Pearl Harbor to aid in the construction of a giant memorial for the Battleship Arizona. Colonel Tom Parker has announced that all proceeds from this rare Presley p.a. will go for this cause. A tremendous success in films as well as records, Presley begins shooting his next movie 'Blue Hawaii' the end of March.

I'm pretty sure that is... "$76,000,000 (76 million dollars) worth of RCA Victor recordings", not 876,000,000
Suspicious Minds, you might want to go back to your August 28, 2017 post on page 1 and edit/correct that.
