Elvis should have had a "Beatles - Anthology" type doc done many years ago. But like Jorgensen said, Elvis' music as never been seen as worthy by the media and the like. And I think a lot of it is to do with the way RCA handled his catalogue during his lifetime, and the way the Colonel promoted him like a carnival circus.

Let's just hope and pray this doc delivers the goods. Even if the doc doesn't have a great narrative, I'm at least hoping for some unseen footage from any era 50s, 60s, 70s.....

Already been done, and the Beatles things isn't as good as it could have been.

Neither was the Elvis one.

The bar has been raised.

There has been way too many documentaries, and each one is just a piece of the puzzle.

I would like the full puzzle at this point.

So, more than likely I will be dissapointed.

Sounds like a good idea, as long as they keep Priscilla well and truly away from it. The focus needs to be on Elvis and his music, not his ex-wife.

A part of what affected Elvis' music in his last few years was that Priscilla became his ex wife. So are you suggesting a rose coloured documentary?

No, I think he's suggesting that she has her part to play in Elvis' story but that she stays out of any major production values of the HBO documentary as to not to put 'her' rose coloured (and in her favor) stories into it.

I was at the past Elvis week in August & went to the Concert at the FEDEX Frum. Recorded the snippet of the HBO documentary EPE showed there. Sorry it was nothing special..... .

I was told that at one of the Elvis event at "Elvis Memphis Complex" they showed more footage of the HBO doc and that was really good!. I don´t know, I´m really confused.....

One of the best if not the best documentary of Elvis as a recording star was the DVD Classic Albums-Elvis Presley from 2001. That was excellent but only focused in 1956!.
