The new ABFT book has information about the IFTRTF wire recording and its restoration process ?

No, it just says it's from a damaged tape copy.

I thought they got it from the original wire tape recording, that wasn't damaged was it? Sounded alright on YouTube. So where's the damaged tape come from?

I understand its been remastered to the correct speed.

Did it arrive without any dents or creases? Amazon can't seem to manage that for me. I returned it and my second copy was only slightly better, but acceptable.

I don't have the answer to those questions, but I suspect maybe it was copied by the owner onto a damaged tape or it was damaged in transit.
Sounds ok to me though.

Yes, sounds much better than the YouTube recording. It's the reason I bought this set for the live IFTRTF recording, because I knew it would sound so much better being mastered by a professional. I sill have FTDs 2012 release, though . Couldn't live without that mammoth book.

I read somewhere that the original wire recording is now in a collectors hands.

Keep it in the shed. I don't know, you can always use a bit of wire. Hold your fence together?

Or use it as a washing line maybe?
The empty spool could then be used as a toy for the cat to play with...lf I had a cat that is!
I could then use the white gloves that were used for handling it to keep my hands warm too.
Damn, this investment is getting better all the time.

See, and there you were thinking you'd bought a manky old bit of wire. It gives you a great excuse to get a cat. This is the gift that keeps on giving.
