A BOY FROM TUPELO: THE COMPLETE 1953-1955 RECORDINGS is the definitive collection of Elvis' Sun-era recordings in one comprehensive package.

A BOY FROM TUPELO: THE COMPLETE 1953-1955 RECORDINGS includes on 3 CDs every surviving Elvis Presley Sun master and outtake, plus two private records Elvis paid with his own money to record, as well as all known radio- and concert performances from the period. Many of these recordings are rare demos, session takes, and live performances including a newly discovered and previously unreleased recording of "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" from a 1955 Louisiana Hayride performance.

The accompanying 120-page book compiled by Elvis authority Ernst Mikael Jørgensen and is, in essence, a fully-illustrated travelogue. It details the birth of Elvis' career through facts, anecdotes, documentation, many rare photos, and a succinct narrative. Independence Day 1954 is when this uniquely American saga begins, less than 24 hours before his first professional recording session, and it ends in December 1955, when the rights to Elvis' Sun tapes officially expire and the singer leaves Sam Phillips and Sun Records to record for RCA Victor.

This is the story of Elvis Presley before he becomes world-famous, and how this amazing young man readies himself for stardom, achieving success on a level that no one could have dreamed possible.

So is that a CD sized book? I can't lift the one that came out originally, nearly broke my wrists.

The original book is very heavy and I rarely take it out of its case. But to buy this one just because it's better manageable is crazy, or is it? :?
Question is: will the live version of I Forgot to Remember to Forget be on it? I'd say yes, so most of the people that bought the FTD will now buy this one too.

If the original LP sized book has over 500 pages, how many pages of a CD sized booklet would take to have the same contents ?

This has to be a very much reduced version of the original.

As for the live version of "I Forgot To Remember To Forget", I've had it for almost five years, so I'm not planning to spend a cent on it.

When I purchased ABFT almost five years ago, I told myself it was going to be the last time I purchased that material. I've already purchased it enough times in the last forty years.

I wasn't interested in the book anyway, only the music, so I could buy this and sell the original.

As for IFTRTF, it was a novelty for a few minutes and I don't think I've played it more than 4-5 times, so if it was included, that would not be my motivation for buying this.

It looks to be, John.

I would like it better if this set was going to be the same size as Young Man With The Big Beat, instead of Legacy Edition size.
But this is a retail release, which is good, and affordable, so this will make for a nice addition to my collection. 8-)

Yes i must ne strong and not fall for this one. I also have IFtRtF elsewhere, but it would be nice to have everything in one place.

Not sure if it's proper English, but I couldn't think of another word :?

The word 'manageable' is fine.

Probably more correct to write 'more manageable' than 'better manageable'...

I bought the MRS knockoff when it came out. Not sure if I need this, but might get it.

Is this import only or available in the USA as well?

I already noticed by the first picture posted early this week on FECC, that it would be probably released in the same format as Elvis At Stax......Geez it´s not rocket science ;).

P.S: It looks now it had been removed from Amazon.de.....

The original on eBay for £500. Seriously? If anyone's mad enough to pay that, they can have mine for £480.
