Re: UK's Most Successful Chart Acts

In May 2016 Colin B wrote:Wouldn't it be great if our boy could close the gap on, & eventually overtake, the Beatles & Queen ?

I reckon it's 'do-able'...
Brian wrote:I have been thinking about that issue also Colin and I agree with you. Elvis should get at least another 25 weeks in the Top 75 with the next RPO album putting him ahead of The Beatles. Of course things like deaths e.g. Paul McCartney or Brian May would be a problem or even other new releases. However, definitely do-able as you say.

Back then the 'UK Album Artists - Weeks in Top 75' looked like this:

The latest list looks like this:

UK Album Chart - Weeks in top 75 - 29th September 2017.JPG

Our boy has edged ahead of The Beatles - now there's an uphill struggle to catch Queen !

Not an easy task since they are never out of the chart !

The Christmas with Elvis & the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra album is at No.22 this week.

The 50 Greatest Hits album is at No.48.

All the while both of these albums are in the Top 75, Elvis increases his tally of weeks [above] by two !

Worrying about this has turned Brian May's hair white...

I’m surprised that the gap to Queen is now as narrow as it is. Queen never seem to vacate the album chart, whether it’s top 100 or top 75.

They are a tough nut to crack.

But at one time The Beatles seemed to be so far ahead of our boy that it looked like he'd never catch up !
