But I'd really like to have the complete Memphis 1969 sessions. It would be a nice celebration.
Other releases:
- A box with shows from 1975, on cardboard, with 5 CDs (like the Charlie Bring me The Request Box) format.
- Standing Room Only LP, reissued on colored vinyl;
- The complete sessions from Nashville 1970 or 1971...

I don't see a box with 5 CDs happening. FTD will continue with the concept of 3 concerts per edition for the time being.

Two Nashville sets have already been released in 2020 and 2021. Here too, I don't see it happening in the short term to release this material again, albeit with unreleased material.

I've heard rumors of re-releasing old FTD titles on vinyl. Whether that will really happen, I don't think so. This will drastically reduce the value of the first pressings.

The negativity on another forum? Oh well, it's run by a dictator who is only interested in the Elvis of the 50s. And is still looking for the recording of ''Tiger Man'' on the Sun label. They are also concerned about the costs of packages from one continent to another. As well as audience recordings are praised and hailed as the ''Holy Grail'', while officially unreleased music, and/or improved music, is burned down.

That view is a bit distorted IMO. Sure, there's a lot of talk about audience recordings, but in the end the production runs of these titles are much lower compared to what FTD is putting out. A large part of FTD's customers remains silent and enjoys the official product. Most audience recordings are of no real importance.

The year 2024 marks the 70th anniversary of Elvis' first professional recordings at Sun.

Not much left to mine there though...

Be warned that a lot of those 27 takes are short false starts, so don't get your hopes up too much...

I absolutely expect something special for the 25th anniversary, but in 2025 of course ;-)

I could definitely see either FTD or Sony Legacy putting out all five Memphis concerts from the March 1974 tour as a 5 CD set. It would have the two soundboard recordings from the March 16, 1974 date, the two soundboard recordings from the March 17, 1974 date and a remix of the March 20, 1974 multi-track recording of that show by Matt Ross Spang.

It was when planes fell out of the sky, TVs and fridges exploded, computers re-set themselves to the year zero, and when some clever computer bloke who started the rumour that all hell would break loose, made a lot of money.

Oh, that !

Thanks !

Can't imagine how the FTD label could celebrate those events...

Anything is possible at this point:

- Cisco teased something 'out of this world' a few years ago on the other forum. Darn, if this held any truth at all, 2024 is the year to deliver the goods.
- It Happened At The World's Fair. I kinda like the soundtrack, Elvis sings beautifully and it definitely deserves the sessions-treatment. It's not quite en par with Viva Las Vegas, but it's close. Shoot me if you want to.
- Spinout & Girl Happy soundtracks could and should receive dedicated sessions-releases.
- A re-visit of the multitrack recordings made in the spring of 1977. All recordings, not just the highlights featured on 'Spring Tours 77', mixed and mastered by FTD's top engineers, presented in original recording order. I know it's just maybe 2 or 2,5 discs worth of audio, but it would be an interesting project nonetheless. It's not Elvis at his best, but please hand them to Anesini and Jeansson and let them work their magic.

And last but not least:

- why not think about an actual celebration / convention held in Denmark some time in 2024. One night only. FTD has had a "closed door policy" all these years, it's time to open up a little, meet everyone, talk about the remaining years, sample one or two upcoming releases and have a good ol' slice of pie. I'd be showing up for sure and not just because of the t-shirt.

No, don't shoot him. What did IHATWF have going for it? It had the lovely Yvonne Craig, it had Kurt Russell kicking him in the shin, it had Elvis in fine voice, and a bunch of lovely songs, although it was the beginning of the end of his dominance of the charts with the failure of One Broken Heart For Sale to hit the top spot.

It had the lovely Vicky Tiu. My younger daughter who looked a bit like her when she was about 5ish, loved this film. This was in the mid 90s. She watched the video countless times. I had to always start the tape from when Sue-Lin first appeared, and she would watch it several times a day. She wasn't an Elvis fan at all, just Sue-Lin.

All together now, breeeeeeze, sing a happy song.....
