What's so special about 2004 ?

An award for sales should surely cover all of them from the original release date + re-issues to date...

2004 is the date from which the BPI have referred to when certifying Can't Help Falling in Love.

So one would imagine that if the OCC figure of 780,000 by 2017 (now 980,000) is correct and it sold 400,000 since 2004 (now 600,000) as certified by the BPI, then that means between its original release and end 2004, it sold just 380,000 which just seems a triffle low.

A more realistic figure would be between 1.75 and 2 million.

Great! Any ideas on total UK sales since its original release?

In August 2017 the UK Official Charts Company published a list of Elvis' 50 bestselling UK singles. It's Only Love was at No19 and Burning Love was at No28. The new certification for Burning Love indicates strongly that the Official Charts Company are as clueless as the rest of us with regard to Elvis sales and just make meaningless lists up as a publicity stunt.

The '50 greatest Hits' is a steady seller on the official UK album chart. So all the the tracks are / will be eligible for new awards some day simply thanks to streams I guess. Some are streamed more than others, not enough to enter the chart but if streamed often enough the will reach the award qualification mark.

Are there any websites where we can see how many units each record sold?

The industry tends to keep exact sales figures under wraps...

That’s a shame, I always find it interesting to see which songwriters Elvis made wealthy (Apart from the obvious), such as Eddie Rabbit saying that Elvis’ Kentucky Rain made him a lot of money.
