Likely you all know of this 35-year-old 1983 German made 60 Track 3xCD Box set, the very first Elvis CDS.
I remember seeing this set at the Music Shop back then but passed on it because I did not have a CD player.
Every time I see this for sale it's either the asking price is too much or the Bids get too high, so I pass.
Last week I saw this copy on eBay at a starting Bid of $49.00, so I clicked on that before I left for work that day thinking it
was worth a shot at that price. Well, to my surprise, when I got home from work I found out I was the only bidder.
When I received my copy a few days ago I was surprised at the mint condition of the CDs and Jewel cases, its as if they were never touched.
The sound to me is excellent, and altho the box is worn, it's still solid. All in all, a great piece of history to have in my collection.
Does anyone else on here have this in your collection, what are your thoughts about it?
The story behind the very first Elvis CDs http://picknmixed.blogspot.com/p/first- ... -ever.html
The song selections are decent but mine would have been a bit different.
As for CD-3, I would have selected a few later 70's songs like T-R-O-U-B-L-E, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain, Moody Blue, Way Down.

I found this quote below from the link above to be of interest.
I have this set and can add that the tapes used were the EQ'd and compressed singles masters which were mostly copies from the original session tapes some of them sound very different to the tracks that are currently available which sound very clean, what you do hear on 'Legend' is the sound of those original 45's treated for radio play. One song 'Big Hunk Of Love' is a revelation as it has extra reverb added and the sound is far more exciting than any version you will hear on a modern CD, it's true to say that the first 'Legend' box set is not as clean but it has an excitement because you are hearing the real original singles masters prepared for radio play in the 50's and 60's, but with the latest CD's they went back to the original session tapes without treatment.
