Elvis says on take 1, "duck". On the other hand it could be a trombone. which is mentioned as one of the instruments used. I don't know enough about trombones, but if you have a look on youtube, players make all kinds of sounds.

Yes I looked at that yesterday which is why I said it might be a trombone. Keith's site says "It has an instrumental intro / then in the middle of the 4th verse there is an instrumental bridge inserted." It doesn't say what the instrument is. However, we need to know what it is on the record version.
