I've never heard the version by The Gladiolas but I don't think it's any better than the version by The Diamonds, which in itself was a piece of ridiculous nonsense.
I'd be surprised if Elvis seriously considered recording a studio version.
It was bad enough that he did it live.

At least the Gladiolas were a black group.

The Diamonds were a white group imitating the sound of a black one !

Then Elvis imitated them !

A bit of fun live onstage at a performance, maybe, but not so good as a recording !

As I mentioned in page 4 of this thread, Elvis' performances of "Little Darlin"" in the 70s probably owe more to The Gladiolas' original than to The Diamonds' cover.

Anyway, I think it's very cool that he remembered this song and decided to include it in his live repertoire for a while, even though it's nothing more than a novelty the way he treats it.

I'd rather listen to him doing "Little Darlin'" than "Bridge Over Troubled Water" or "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", really.

I guess if you were there, Bridge would have been magnificent. Little Darlin' was a bit of fluff and doesn't come across well on record, not to me anyway. Live it might have been fun.

We're gonna live it up
The song was written by Leiber & Stoller and selected for the movie Loving you.
There's nothing known about a recording but it could be the missing track P on 17 january 1957??.
Added a part from the press-information.

This bit could have been in the 'Spot The Error' thread !

For the second RCA session in jan. 1956 it was suggested to record the song "Mr Blues". I've no information about the song.

Marvin Rainwater recorded a song with that title in March 1956.
