The Otis recording of "Return.." is from the '70s, not a demo made before Elvis recorded it. That said, I LOVE the Blackwell version, it really moves!

Otis Blackwell Quote: "I wrote my songs, I got my money and I boogied"

All Shook Up, Don't Be Cruel, Fever, I'm A Roustabout, Make Me Know It
One Broken Heart For Sale, Paralysed, Please Don't Drag That String Around
Return To Sender, (Such An) Easy Question, We're Comin' In Loaded

You have to admit, all awesome tracks!
Keep Rockin'!

I think all are brilliant songs. I can't name another songwriter with such a consistent high level of songs recorded by Elvis.

How about Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller or Mort Shuman & Doc Pomus ?

OK - maybe Otis Blackwell was the 'solo' writer with the most 'consistent high level of songs'...

From memory, most of the above mentioned songs were co-written too, by Blackwell and another songwriter, except for the earlier ones.

Leiber and Stoller are my favourites in this respect. No contest at all. Too bad Elvis' relationship with them was so short-lived.

Tepper / Bennett and Giant / Baum / Kaye were waiting around the corner... :|
