Whoever wrote that first letter for Hal B Wallis must have avoided english as a language!
Required twice in the same sentence (tut tut), notwithstanding the other 'R' words in the text makes it like a tongue twister. request, respect, required, report, ready, render, required (again) and referred. Thats only the first paragraph, but its nice to see it ratified at the end...

It is interesting to see these documents though.. thank you for sharing

Before shooting a movie starts the script / lyrics for the songs etc are sent to the censor.

The script titled Hawaiian beach boy was written:
1 – 21-10-60 yellow pages by Hal Kanter (140 pages)

2 – 05-01-61 yellow pages by Dan Beaumont (140 pages)

3 – 19-01-61 yellow pages by Dan Beaumont (125 pages)

You can see the script became smaller with less pages during the process of censorship with a final white script on 23 february 1961 by Hal Kanter with changes till 15 march 1961 (120 pages)
When the movie is finished there's a preview to see for what age it's allowed to see the movie. See last lines in the letter.

Here a picture from the script I found on an auction in 2014; it's the script with revisions until 26 april 1961 on the blue pages.

Now you get an idea how it works to get a film for the family in those days. A lot of paperwork before shooting starts.

When you look to card 13 in the last post you'll see that Colonel Parker is listed as technical advisor (as usual in Elvis' movies). In the his way he was paid extra $$$$$ by the movie company outside his share from Elvis' contract.

Blue Hawaii

Postby Rickeap » Wed Nov 08, 2017 7:04 am

I'd been accumulating Elvis daybills (plus posters for other movies) for years. My first was Elvis on Tour that i collected back in the 70s when i was a teenager. I had waited about five years with only Blue Hawaii and LMT to finish the daybill collection. I finally got Blue Hawaii in April 2016.
